Hello CABbers!
Welcome to the CAB Spring 2018 Section A class blog! This blog will
serve as an
open forum for you to ask and answer questions about material from class
and to engage in thoughtful discussion with your peers. This is also
where you will post your muddy points on the required days.
As we'll talk about in class and according to your syllabus, each time
you have a reading from your textbook, you are required to reflect on
that reading before class. I call these thoughts "muddy points" because
they relate to things that you find murky as you read. They're things
you'd like clarified or that you want to spend more time on. Maybe you
found a particular example or subtopic in the reading to be particularly
interesting and you want to talk about it more. Maybe something was
really confusing and you'd like it explained a different way. This
assignment is meant to let me know these things. For each Perspectives
of Animal Behavior textbook reading, you will submit a list of three muddy
points (i.e. your questions or comments on the reading). You should
post these points in the thread associated with the topic of the
reading. These muddy points are due at least 24 hours prior to the class session we will be discussing the associated topic.
In addition to a platform for muddy points, I hope that you will use
this blog as a resource throughout the semester. I'll be posting links
to recent popular press stories that I think are cool. It
is also my hope that this blog will be a particularly useful tool for
studying for exams. You can pose questions to me or your peers on here
and/or use it as an online study group platform. Finally, I hope this
blog will invite fun
discussions about really interesting topics in animal behavior!
Everyone will be listed as an author on the blog, and you may either use
your Google account that is managed by UNE to participate or create an
account on Blogger. If you use a Blogger account, please make sure that
you create a username that allows me to know who you are so that I can
assign you credit for participating. Remember that everyone in
the class will be able to see what you write, so be please be mindful of
others as you contribute to discussions.
Feel free to e-mail me (tdzieweczynski@une.edu) if you have any questions.
I look forward to having you in class, teaching you and learning from you this semester.
